Khongma Tse 5849m

Khongma Tse Trekking (also known as Mera Peak Trek with Khongma La Pass or Khongma Tse Climb) is an adventurous and less-traveled trekking and climbing route in the Makalu-Barun National Park, located in eastern Nepal. It offers a wild, high-altitude experience combining rich biodiversity, challenging terrain, and some of the best panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m), and Makalu (8,485m).

Trek Overview

The trek typically begins from Num or Tumlingtar after a flight from Kathmandu, followed by a gradual ascent through lush forests, rhododendron valleys, and culturally rich Sherpa villages like Tashigaon. The trail leads you to Khongma Danda, where the real alpine adventure begins.

You’ll cross Khongma La Pass (3,890m) before making your way to Khongma Tse. This section is remote, with rugged terrain, glacial moraines, and fewer trekkers. The summit of Khongma Tse provides a thrilling vantage point with stunning views.

Why Trek Khongma Tse?

  • Less Crowded: Unlike the Everest or Annapurna regions, this trail sees fewer visitors.
  • Raw Wilderness: Experience untouched alpine ecosystems and wild terrain.
  • Panoramic Views: 360-degree vistas of five of the world’s highest peaks.
  • Cultural Immersion: Sherpa and Rai villages with traditional lifestyles.
  • Physical Challenge: Ideal for experienced trekkers or climbers seeking something off the beaten path.
