The mountain is a favorite among experienced climbers seeking a less commercialized alternative to Everest, offering stunning views and awe-inspiring natural beauty.
Broad Peak, standing at 8,051 meters (26,414 feet), is the 12th highest mountain in the world. Located in the Karakoram Range on the border of Pakistan and China, it is part of the same mountainous region as K2. The mountain gets its name from its immense summit ridge, which stretches over 1.5 kilometers—hence the term “Broad” Peak.
First summited in 1957 by an Austrian expedition, Broad Peak is considered one of the more climbable 8,000-meter peaks, though it still presents the extreme challenges of high-altitude mountaineering. It lies within the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, in close proximity to other famous peaks like Gasherbrum I & II.
Askole is the beginning of the trek to base camp and each night we camp out as we travel up the valley with our Balti porters providing entertainment and colour to the otherwise stark and barren countryside.
