Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek

The Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most adventurous and remote trekking routes, circling the world’s seventh-highest mountain, Mount Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters / 26,795 feet). This trek is a challenging, high-altitude journey that offers a dramatic mix of towering peaks, deep valleys, glaciers, and unspoiled landscapes.

Route Highlights

  1. Beni – Starting point of the trek, accessible by road from Pokhara.
  2. Dharapani / Muri Village – Traditional Magar villages with beautiful terraced fields.
  3. Boghara / Doban – The trail becomes wilder, entering dense forests and remote settlements.
  4. Italian Base Camp (3,660m) – First major acclimatization stop; stunning views of Dhaulagiri I.
  5. Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4,750m) – Nestled beneath the huge north face of Dhaulagiri.
  6. French Pass (5,360m) – The highest point; panoramic views of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, and Hidden Valley.
  7. Hidden Valley – A remote high-altitude valley, often snow-covered and surreal.
  8. Dhampus Pass (5,240m) – Offers dramatic views of the Annapurna and Nilgiri ranges.
  9. Marpha / Jomsom – End point; descend into the Kali Gandaki Valley, then fly or drive to Pokhara.

Day 14: Trek to Classic Base Camp (5000m)

Day 16: Trek across the French Col (5,100 m) to camp below Dhampus Pass (5200m)

Day 17: Rest day but possibility to climb Dhampus peak

Day 18: Trek across Dhampus pass (5200m) to Alubari

Day 19: Trek to Marpha (2665m)

Day 20: Trek to Lete (2470m)

Day 21: Trek to Tatopani (1160m)

Day 22: Trek to Ghorepani (2775m)

Day 23: Trek to Birethanti (1050m) and drive to Pokhara

Day 24: Fly or drive to Kathmandu

Day 25: In Kathmandu
